Hello, we are Extra Mile Missions

Our mission is simple.  Go the extra mile to care for and provide assistance to children and families living in some of the most impoverished communities on earth.

Our inspiration comes from Matthew 5:41, where Jesus said, "Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two."

We have mission works in Mexico, Honduras, The Philliippines, and right here in the U.S.A.   We have mission opportunities for people of nearly all professions, and for people of all ages.    During any given year we will need construction teams, medical and dental teams,  backpack distribution teams, Christmas gift distribution teams, Vacation Bible School teams, and more.  In many cases we can host groups exclusive to your organization, or we can pair you up as part of another team you're interested in joining.

Joplin is a visionary leader.  He is the founder and Lead Pastor of The Well Worship Center in Derby, KS.  He is also the founder and president of Extra Mile Missions.  His passion is empowering other people with the tools and opportunities they need to use their God-given gifts to help others.  His ability to train and equip others for the work of ministry is the "secret" to our ministry growth.

Andrea Emberson

Vice President / C.A.O

Andrea drives the fun and upbeat atmosphere that has come to be a mark of the EMM mission team experience.   The combo of her organization for our teams and the atmosphere she creates is one of the main reasons we have almost an 80% return rate of mission team members who return with us on additional missions.

Russell Sowers, â€‹Chief Operations Officer
  • Black Facebook Icon

We are blessed to have this awesome family on our team.  Both Russell & Iris are bilingual which is a huge help with our Spanish ministries.

Russell is our Chief Operations Officer.  His responsibilities include the operational oversight, logistics, and strategic planning for all of our locations worldwide.

Russell moved to the mission field at age 11, where he has spent 20 years serving in the Sowers 4 Pastors organization.  Iris was born and raised in Gracias Honduras.  The two of them married in 2010 and have three children, ages 10, 8, and 5. â€‹â€‹

Our organization would not be able to employ Russell without the faithful mission support of generous donors.   THANK YOU to those who make this possible.   We could not imagine operating without Russell in the C.O.O. position and we simply couldn't do it without your support.

Jennifer Erion

Jenn shares in the administrative workload that it takes to run our organization.   Though she gets tasked with a multitude of items, Jenn's primary responsibility with EMM is the oversight of our Child Sponsorship program; especially the website, payments, and sponsor care.   If you've ever had to contact us about your sponsorship, you most likely know Jenn.  Her and her family are also regulars on our mission teams into Honduras and Mexico.

The Philippines

Chad Davis, Operations Director (Philippines)

Chad is our Operations Director of Philippines missions.    In 2023, Chad became especially burdened for the Philippines and the ministry work of Open Door Ministries (Pastor Dan Caba and his family pictured left with Chad).   He felt called to get serious about helping the Caba family as they work to reach the people of Manila with the gospel.

Chad has a God-sized task of creating vision, building a plan, and implementing our strategy in the Philippines to enhance prison ministry, food support to homeless children, purchasing land and building a center for underprivileged children, providing support to the multitudes of volunteers who make these ministries happen, and more.

Troy Capps, â€‹Resident Missionary (Honduras)
  • Facebook

Troy is our resident missionary in Honduras.  This means he lives there full-time and serves as our American "boots on the ground" overseeing our day-to-day operations.

Troy works directly with all of our sponsorship programs, visiting one every week.  Troy delivers food to our programs, transports our Middle & High School students back and forth to school, handles all of our medical requests (medicine deliveries, transportation to doctor appointments, etc.), and more.

Our organization would not be able to employ Troy without the faithful mission support of generous donors.   THANK YOU to those who make this possible.   We could not imagine operating without Troy as our resident missionary in Honduras and we simply couldn't do it without your support.

Isaac Almendarez, â€‹Youth Pastor (Honduras)

Isaac is the youth pastor for our Youth Impact ministry to teens in Honduras.  We hold services for teens in several locations every week.   Most of these students have grown up through our child sponsorship programs.    Each week we minister to more than 100 students through our Youth Impact ministry.

Indigenous Field Officers are full time employees who are native to the areas in which we operate.   This role is vital to the success of our organization as they help us bridge the cultural and language barriers that make mission work difficult.

Melvin is one of the most fun employees we have.   It's about impossible to be around the guy for more than 5 minutes before he makes you smile or laugh about something.

Melvin is a worship leader at his church and leads one of Honduras' most well-know mariachi bands.

Mexico

Raul & Norma Ozaeta

Raul & Norma lead our missions in Juarez Mexico.  Raul was born and raised in Jaurez.  He moved to the United States at the age of 16.  He has a passion for ministering to the people of Juarez.

Norma is an amazing woman who lives her life serving others.  She is employed at a school in Wichita, KS that provides education for refugee children from Sudan and other countries in Africa.  She works with children that often do not speak any English (or Spanish) at all.

Ana Raquel Esquivel Solia

Ana coordinates our food distribution in Juarez.   Once a month we provide approximately a one week supply of food for about 30 families living in Juanita Luna.  Ana handles the purchasing, packaging, and distributing of each month.

Ana is a life-long member of the 3rd Church of the Nazarene in Juarez Mexico.  Her father, Pastor Gideon, has been the pastor of the church for more than 40 years.  It is this church that we work with to coordinate all of our activities in Juarez.

Homeless Ministries

AJ & LaDonna Frischenmeyer

AJ & LaDonna run our Homeless Missions in Wichita, KS.

There could not possibly be two better people for this ministry.  AJ & LaDonna lived together, as a married couple, homeless on the streets of Wichita.  AJ was often in and out of prison.   Drug addiction was a problem for them both.

In 2017, AJ & LaDonna were both saved at The Well Worship Center in Derby KS.  Their lives were radically transformed.  What seemed impossible had become possible through Christ!

These two are filled with joy and the light of Christ.  They are blessed to be able to go back to the homeless community, but this time serving, doing ministry, and bringing hope.

Thanks for submitting!
